Dentist resume example
Dentist resumes are credential-first: DDS or DMD, state license, DEA registration, and specialty credentials (pediatric, ortho, endo, perio) go directly under your name. Practice owners and DSO hiring leads screen on license status, then practice type (private, DSO, FQHC, dental school faculty, specialty referral), then production and case-mix. Avoid 'patient-centered dentist' phrasing — every DDS has it, and it reads as filler. What separates strong candidates is specific production, case volume, and comfort with specific modalities.
How to write a strong dentist resume
- 1Credentials directly after your name: 'Dr. Taylor Nguyen, DDS'. State license state + number and DEA on the header line below.
- 2State practice type + production: 'Associate dentist, 6-chair private practice, $1.8M annual production (personal), 30-35 patients/day'. Dollar production and patient volume are the GP-world anchors.
- 3Name the PMS / imaging software: Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Curve Dental, CareStack; CBCT workflows (Planmeca, Carestream, Sirona); CAD/CAM (CEREC, E4D).
- 4Distinguish general practice, DSO, FQHC, and specialty clearly — each has very different norms and hiring criteria.
- 5Continuing-education credits and implant/ortho/endo certifications (AGD Fellowship, MAGD, AAID, Invisalign Platinum) belong in a dedicated block.
