Civil engineering resumes should anchor each role in concrete project scope — dollar value, square footage, scope-of-work, and regulatory context. Recruiters calibrate experience primarily by the size and complexity of the projects you've touched, followed by your credentials (PE license, chartered status) and software stack. Vague "infrastructure project" phrasing is read as inexperience; named projects read as real.
How to write a strong civil engineer resume
- 1Lead with PE licensure status right after your name (e.g. 'Jordan Kim, PE (CA, 2023)'). If you're an EIT or sitting for the FE, say so clearly.

- 5For consulting/design roles: mention submittal review, RFI response volume, and whether you ran stamp-and-seal activities.
