Dear Hiring Partner,
I'm applying for the Litigation Paralegal position at Latham & Watkins' Chicago office. I currently work as a Litigation Paralegal in commercial disputes at a mid-size AmLaw 100 firm, where I supported a $240M commercial dispute through discovery — reviewing 180k pages across four productions in Relativity and flagging 2,400 responsive documents for partner review.
Over the last two years I've also drafted and coordinated service of 14 complaints and 40+ subpoenas (with firm-wide tracking database ownership), ran due diligence for nine M&A transactions in the $8-120M range (organizing virtual data rooms in iManage and coordinating signatures across 30+ parties), and prepared six deposition binders for senior partners. I bill at roughly 2,080 hours annually, hold NALA Certified Paralegal (CP) status since 2022, and am commissioned as a Notary Public in California.
Latham's commercial litigation practice and its reputation for giving paralegals meaningful responsibility on high-stakes matters are the specific reasons I'd like to make this move. I'd be particularly interested in supporting matters in your financial-services-disputes group, where my recent $240M-case experience transfers most directly.
Could we schedule a conversation about your current matter volume and where the team is looking to add paralegal capacity?
Respectfully, Sarah Patel, CP
