Dear Nurse Recruiter,
I'm applying for the ICU staff RN position at Cedars-Sinai. I'm currently a staff RN on a 24-bed Medical ICU at a Level I trauma center, carrying a 1:2 patient ratio, and I hold my CCRN (valid through 2028). Your posting mentions sepsis-bundle compliance as a current priority, which is also the initiative I led on my current unit last year.
Over the last three years I've been a core team member for our sepsis-bundle compliance initiative — unit adherence climbed from 71% to 94% in six months. I serve as charge nurse on one to two shifts per week (staffing, admits, rapid-response liaison), precept new graduates (four so far this year, all still on the unit), and I'm our Epic super-user — I trained 18 peers on the updated MAR workflow during the 2024 EHR upgrade. I pick up a lot of cross-department learning and I bring it back to the unit.
Cedars-Sinai's reputation on quality metrics and the nurse-led practice model are the reasons I want to make the move. I'd particularly welcome the chance to contribute to the sepsis and rapid-response committees, where my current experience would transfer cleanly.
Could we arrange a conversation about the unit's current staffing mix and orientation timeline? Thank you for considering my application.
Respectfully, RN Jamie Thompson, BSN, CCRN
