Dear Hiring Committee,
I'm applying for the General Manager position at the Four Seasons Santa Monica. I'm currently the GM of a 240-key luxury hotel in the Marriott Autograph portfolio, where I drove RevPAR from $187 to $241 (YoY +29%) over 2024 while holding Guest Satisfaction Survey scores above 92.
Over the last three years I also led a $6.1M capex renovation of our lobby and F&B outlets with zero revenue disruption (ADR lifted 14% post-renovation); rebuilt front-office scheduling to cut labor spend from 17.2% to 14.1% of rooms revenue; and ran a union contract negotiation for a 140-person hourly team that ratified a three-year agreement with no work stoppage. I prioritize on-property service recovery — I read every TripAdvisor review weekly and respond personally to anything under four stars.
Four Seasons' operating standards and the specific challenge of a full-service luxury property in Santa Monica's market mix (group, transient, international leisure) are the reasons I'd like to make the move. I'd be especially interested in leading guest experience and F&B strategy, which are where my renovation and service-recovery experience transfer most cleanly.
Could we schedule a conversation about the property's current positioning and where you'd like a new GM to focus in year one?
Respectfully, Antoine Bernal
