I'm applying for the Senior Business Analyst role at Progressive's Claims Technology team. I currently work in property-and-casualty insurance as a BA, and I spent the last nine months eliciting requirements from 14 stakeholders across claims and actuarial for a new reserving system — wrote the BRD, 82 user stories, and served as product-owner proxy for the six-person dev squad that built it.
Beyond that project, I built a SQL + Power BI dashboard that cut weekly ops-report cycle from two days to twenty minutes; led a process-reengineering workshop that consolidated a nine-step claim-intake flow down to four steps (intake time dropped 43%); and shepherded three quarters of core-system modernization for a 400-person ops org as the business-side ambassador. My tools: JIRA/Confluence for story management, Lucidchart and Visio for BPMN, SQL and Power BI for data work.
Progressive's claims-tech investment and the scale of the book make it one of the most interesting BA environments in the industry. I'd be especially interested in contributing to claims-triage automation work, where my current reserving-system experience transfers naturally.
