Dear Hiring Manager,
I'm applying for the Senior Accountant role at Patagonia. I'm a CPA licensed in California since 2021 and I've spent the last three years as a senior accountant at a D2C apparel brand responsible for a $42M revenue P&L — an operational profile I expect is close to what the Ventura team works on daily.
In that role I cut month-end close from eight to four business days by automating recurring journal entries and variance reports in NetSuite; led SOX controls testing for six key-control cycles with zero deficiencies in the 2024 external audit; and prepared consolidated federal and 12-state returns for a multi-entity parent structure managing $3.1M in combined tax liabilities. I also trained four staff accountants, two of whom promoted to senior within 18 months. I prefer automation-first workflows and try to make every month's close faster than the last.
Patagonia's reputation for operational rigor and employee-first culture is why I'd like to make the move. I'd be particularly excited to contribute to the consolidated reporting process and to mentor the staff accountants on your team.
Could we set up 30 minutes to walk through your current close cycle and where the team is looking to add leverage?
Sincerely, Alex Lee, CPA
